It consists of very high quality Scandinavian-made drivers, US made non-corroding, high quality rheostats plus an all new crossover. The mod is also capable of bi-wire or bi-amp connectivity using heavy duty gold finished connecters. You get to continue using those original, wonderful sounding AR woofers with the Super-Mod! This modification to the AR3a is not intended for those planning an authentic restoration of the original. Instead, it is for the serious audio listener and music lover who needs or wants to acquire new mids and tweeters to replace faulty or poorly functioning original drivers or, simply wants to hear more of today’s high quality recordings presented with improved imaging, clarity and a broader soundstage. The design approach focuses on improving the mid and high frequency range reproduction of music while maintaining the classic 3a acoustic suspension bass sound owners have loved all along! |

| SUPER-MOD PERFORMANCE: Sensitivity – 89dB @ 2.8 volts @ 1Meter and pink noise signal with pots adjusted for flat response with existing AR woofer Impedance ranges from a low of 5.9 ohms @ 80 Hz to a max of 11.5 ohms @ 325 Hz* Electrical phase: -15 deg. min to + 22 deg. over 10-10kHz frequency* Crossover points – 275 and 2500 Hz*. Frequency response – woofer is -3dB @ about 40 Hz. Remainder of spectrum is adjustable via mid-range and tweeter rheostats. Careful adjustment of the mids and highs can bring the total on-axis response to within ± 2-3 dB from 40-20 kHz. Power handling (based on driver ratings) – 100 watts continuous per speaker |
